The lesson
I'm sad to say that i can relate to this story in many ways that i would feel that i might be to open to write it here, but this story is among the many that i have enjoyed and in this case, am able to relate.

I feel that in the end, he made the right choice as towards for himself mentally. He is young and many don't have the option to just quite on the spot. Who's to say what happened after the story, Maybe when he went out, the girls could of said "ah, look, its a monster!" or maybe " he, want to go down by the river?". This, those questions are what will be going though his mind while working at the market. For days on and on, he would say to himself "oh why didn't i go with them, oh why I'm i still here".
Risk is nothing more but Fear that is later led by anger.
The fear of "should i do this" to anger were "dammit!, why didn't i do it".
He choice well,
the lessons of life are not taught, but learned by experience.

A Worn Path
I love how she doesn't quit and it reminds me of many single mothers who have two jobs and still have time for their children. I guess her struggles remind me of single mothers for todays age. The poverty in this nation is increasing; a clear fact and in my view, a connection that this story and the main character has with todays struggling Americans.

“A Good Man Is Hard to Find”
"Where's the plantation?" John Wesley asked.
"Gone With the Wind" said the grandmother. "Ha. Ha."
Loved that, sick story. Reminded me of Chainsaw MASSACRE. Very creepy as we were introduced to these characters and connected by their love for each other and the humor the grandmother posses.
Around the end, i felt the fear of being the next person being walked into the woods. All i could think about was what the family was thinking about when walking down there.
I felt like this story was to much for me to really break it down to symbols of us judging people, i believe this was a great horror story and a great trick for Halloween.
Thanks.

Franz Kafka-A Hunger Artist
The title of this short story says it all, a Hunger Artist.
Kinda reminds me of how many musicians and actors are trying to make it in the business's, but can't due to illegal downloading. Many of them make their living though songs being played on the radio and movies being broadcast on TV.
The reason i bring that up is because the term "Hunger artist" was first heard over the radio on the Howard Stern Show, that was the place i learned that from. Spoke about how youtube.com and many other websites are harming the Entertainment industry with sharing something that is not theres.
Found it sad the character had to go at great lengths to get noticed. I tend to ponder if the artist was sane or not.
What do you think?

Witch is among good old goodman brown
What really drove me into this s story was its setting. The reading was not at all hard to read, i saw the tress and the cart Goodman brown was riding in, the witch on his right, the ribbon falling from the sky with a spotlight on it. This among all other short stories read here, this one is so far considered the best.
I ponder whether after this incdent, did goodman brown sell his soul?
I mean, his life changed right after the whole incident. I felt that, beyond what we read, Brown made some kind of deal at some point in his life to be hit by this kind of attack by witches.
But then again, whats to say they were really witches, i also believe it was the devil playing its tricks. Lets not forget, the "Devil" did state that he met his father and grandfather, so it must of been hard to say "no, your wrong". Whos to say what was the truth in this story.
Ill have to admit, this story has placed me on hold to my holiday shopping and has gotten me picking up books and Halloween based stories, almost forgot that Halloween was right around the corner.

The Purloined Letter
In The Purloined Letter, I felt so lost at times during the read. Although this was written by Edgar Allan Poe, this one story was quit a bore. I know most of his work, but i guess this story really has no goal, not a real direction. I might be mis understanding it, but views here state that this story was like a seinfled episode, a story about, nothing. If i have missed out on the point, could someone really help me out.
From what i understood, there was a cop seeking Dublin help. So i guess he told him about a letter that was missing and as a result are in search of a letter. Then after that, the officer offers Dublin money and grants him a large amount and wishes help to solve this crime of the missing letter.
Like most movies, some are bad and some are good, this short story just didn't sit well for me.

The Use of Force,William Carlos Williams
Indeed, i do believe that when a doctor has a reason to use force to save a patient is right in anyway he or she might choose it to be. But i guess it different when written(or typed) in paper. After reading The Use Of Force, i couldn't help but imagine to see the little girl using force toward the stranger(doctor). I guess she was just a girl who was fearful of her life or in this story, her lie.
Its a real shame how children during the early 1800s(which i believe the setting of this short story is taking place) died by illness we are now immune too. I wonder how their family's must of felt burying their young, or how their population's must of been. This kind of thing must of risen fear towards the children at the time. They probably kept them home and made missed some school here and there, but hey, things have changed for the better?
Now all we have to worry about is global warming, consent wars between our neighbors and other parts of this world. I guess living in a world covered with virus is some kind of improvement from determining who is our friend or enemy. If no one is really getting my connection here, I'm stating here is that our family's can't protect us from this world we are living in, while back in the 1800s, they could have, not implying anything wrong by that, just stating that we have really gone a long way, but i believe its from the opposite direction of progress.

Ernest Hemingway's "Hills Like White Elephants"
wow, now, after analyzing it I've came to a conclusion that this story could be interpreted in many ways. After reading it the second time it was clear that the girl was young and the man was an older male, which indicates that she was either ill or having his child.
My first interpretation was that they have committed an act that is considered taboo and had to run from someone or something. This short story could of been a horror or any suspenseful aftermath, drama, of even since fiction. But Hemingway made it clear that the characters here (names doesn't matter as if Hemingway wanted people to relate) have an age difference which leads to the most possible conclusion that she was in fact having a child.
The setting of shades and how the other side some a lot brighter is a clear indication of how life and death is in between their lives and how this decision is on the balance of life and death of their unborn child.
Added Yellow short story on the last hour, wasn't sure how to blog it like this one.
"Story of an Hour"
Loved the description of how she view life outside her window. How life was still going on despite how a death didn't stop time. She got grip with her senses and saw that this is her time to live, as well all know, during the early 1800s, women were not giving much choices as citizens. So, this death was her chance to live and explore the world outside those walls.
My interception of this story could be wrong, but i did get the feeling she wasn't happy and her husbands death was the only escape.

The Yellow Wallpaper
What a story that has lead my views of the physiological mind to another level. How one can separate the body from the mind by over thinking and over analyzing. As towards what my interpretation of the story goes, she was alone most of her time, that lead her mind alter her reality. Her depression and having that shoulder to lean on wasn't any where to be found. Her husband who is a doctor, relied on his profession rather then what his wife plead. He stated that she has gotten better physically, but did not state she was well mentally. Which indicated to us as the readers that she was not getting any better.
I'm relived that mental illness have occurred during those times. It makes it easier for many of those who are under that kind of mental state to be treated well and hopefully one day cured. It hurts to see those we love under those conditions, as its always hard to understand what kind of pain they must be in, to lie in their face, to say we too understand but in realty we don't. We state we do to make them feel as if they are not alonE.
